Happy Valentine's Day ! And 2 Graphic 45 Prizes!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, the snow is melting, and I can see grass again!

I'm playing in the studio. I call it experiment time. I tried embossing metal yesterday for the first time with Ten Second Studio molds through the Vagabond. I've always been a bit timid in using the V with my own experiment sandwiches...but I measured and tested and found a good pattern. So Success!!!

This is the Rock Star Black metal on the bottom. One of my personal favs!

Next I decided to cut out hearts and use paint on them for valentines. This is Ranger's new Metal Foil Tape and red craft paint added, then swiped off for a cool Shabby Chic sort of effect.

Now this was pretty cool. Tim's new Adirondack Color Washes on TSS metal. Emboss it, spray it, heat set, and sand off. We'll be using this in a new class coming up. Pretty Cool!!!! I used the Espresso and Red Pepper on Dijon metal.

So enjoy the day. Play with your supplies, order more, do whatever. It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood and Spring can't be too far off, can it????

As an afterthought I saw Graphic 45 is having a romantic drawing today here.

So I've got 2 Le' Romantique 8x8 paper pads to give away!!!! Leave a comment and we'll have Bill draw a number for 2 prizes. What better way to share the love than the gorgeous papers from G45!

A Project to Share

Now this has several different elements in it. It is a glass faced shadowbox. And it's very hard to photograph.

The metal is from Ten Seconds Studio as is the mold that was used on it.

The rest are from Tim and his various papers, charms, dies and Grungeboard. And some stamps, too.

I had forgotten about this project and had planned to send it to a magazine, but that must have slipped my mind (or I found it too much work....more likely).

I love to see my stuff published, but it's a whole lot more fun to make them and just share with you guys.

So, enjoy. I got my Tim Holtz box of goodies today for CHA creations, and I must say.......you will LOVE everything!!!!!! And I'm not kidding. It takes a lot to impress me, but I am thrilled with the new papers and Idea-ology pieces.

Oh, you better make room for the new things in your stash of "gotta haves."

Metal and the NEW Kabukas

I just got some of the new colors of metal from Ten Seconds Studio and NEW MOLDS!!!!!! This is Big Daddy 7 on the top...LOVE this one, and Kabuka 8 on the bottom.

They are sooooooooooooooo cool!!!! They really outdid themselves this time!!!

You have to go to the site and check them all out. But here is a piece I made with a couple of them. I combined the molds to show you the versatility of them.

I used a paper mache box and metallic acrylic paints to give contrast to the Br-rr Blue Metal.

Different styles on the same piece gives a random look. The bottom one reminds me of an antique city street layout....it's just me.

So, go check them out....get out the plastic or go to your LSS and ask them to order these for you.

You'll LOVE them!!!

PS. Peggy asked a ? the other day in a comment, but I have no email to tell her...Yes, I've given classes in making the houses in Missouri and Illinois. Actually one of my first classes. This thing is BIG for the header, but we made 3 smaller ones in a frame for the class.

Would be fun to update and give again.....maybe.

Embossing Metal And Perfect Pearls Class

I always like to teach a technique in a class. Have fun. Make something cool. Have fun. And learn to use a tool you might not be real familiar with so you feel more comfortable. And Have Fun!!!

So, that having been said, I think this class is going to be really inspirational. You did ask for it after seeing my tool caddy/gift box at my last class, and it is combining Grungepaper, Ten Seconds Studio Metal, and Perfect Pearls.

This project is done in Brr-Blue, a dark metallic metal, but it could be done in any color. I hope to have the new colors from Cheryl to show you in class.

We will be working with molds from TSS, but I'll also show you a quick and easy way to work with this fabulous metal as well. So if you have an embossing machine...Cuttlebug or such, bring it along. You'll be amazed!!!!

Right now it's scheduled for Feb. 6th at Prairie Art Stamps. A slightly different version is on the back burner for Scrapbook Friend'z. Stay tuned!!!!

Ten Seconds Studio Video

The ever popular Cheryl and Megan are back with their off the wall Taco Tuesday video!!! You gotta love 'em!

If you remember, last April 2nd (yes, nowhere close to Christmas) I showed you an ornament you could make using metal, alcohol inks and various other techniques. The center is with copper. (click on to see better)

Margaret had some great acrylic pieces in the store and wanted a sample. Hence, the Ornament.

TSS shows you their take on this similar idea using Fragments. Take a look at it. It's entertaining and enlightening, to say the least.

Scrapbook News and Review-Guest Blogger

I know, it's not even Halloween yet, and I'm blasting you with Christmas stuff!

This is a project that is on Scrapbook News and Review tonight with a little bit about how it was done and a little bit about me in the Guest Blogger area.

This was really fun to create, because I could drag out all kinds of stuff from my stash and just play. No worries about recreating or writing up instructions.

It has everything that I love, Ten Seconds Studio, Maya Road, Grungeboard, Tim Holtz stamps, Idea-ology, Stickles and Graphic 45 paper.

Some Metal and Butterflies

We've been really busy. Fall cleanup time here, inside and out.

But I did get some cool little things made the other day.

Here is what you can do in about 5 minutes with the Ten Seconds Studio metal, a Cuttlebug Die, and some Idea-ology pieces.

No kidding....5 minutes!

And I love the Basic Grey paper Indian Summer.

Metal and Crackle Paint

We spent most of the day in Springfield again, only this time we were watching U10 Traveling Girls Soccer. Go BLAZE!!!

A Beautiful Day!

Then I came home and had an epiphany of using Tim's Deer on Mocha Metal stamped on the back and embossed. I spritzed with Perfect Pearls and rubbed some Champaign Glitz into the debossed areas. Hard to see here.

Gave it a try.....it is on a canvas with 2 shades of Crackle Paint and trees stamped with Adirondack Bottle Green.

Crackled and Glitzed the stars and added a dew drop.

Pretty simple. Simple is good sometimes.

WOW! Look at Charlene!

Well, Charlene took her new found talent from class at Scrapaganza Saturday using metal from TSS, and her terrific idea for design, and made this WONDERFUL collage for her daughter Amber!

Is she good or what????? Amber likes black and white, so Mom really made a spectacular gift for the girl!!!

~

She didn't get a chance to frame it because Amber, recognizing the stunning work of art, and knowing exactly where she wanted it, immediately planted it on the back of her bedroom door!

And we all KNOW that is a teenager's shrine...so Charlene....ya did good!

The Rest of the Story.....the back

Here is the back of the book....actually like it better than the front now!

The thing here is that I've used the wire brush and sander on the large blue spots. It was too bright for me. SOOOOO...out comes the wire brush.

It tones down the color and makes it look more vintage. And then, I did it to the front, so it looks entirely different now!

It's a woman's prerogative, right?????

I'll upload this later, going to a Vintage Car show uptown if it doesn't rain.

It's like October here! I'll wear my Tim/Mario hoodie to keep warm! Tim designs it, and Mario ships it out. What a team!!!

Kids came to town and we went and saw Harry Potter. Not very true to the book in spots. Liked the Quidditch match and Luna. Ron was good. Always enjoy Snape. I guess I enjoy more magical parts like the 1st ones.

Brr-Blue Metal

I got some of the new colors of metal from Cheryl and Megan at Ten Seconds Studios. Isn't this a really "cool" color?????

I LOVE it! My new favorite!! And I used the wheels, ball and cups, and molds.
This shows a combination of 3 molds. Love doing that.

This is a paper mache' book box that caught my eye the other day. The papers are the new and WONDERFUL 7Gypsies! Beautiful....Distress Inked with Broken China. Adds a bit of depth.

And I told you I had a bunch of Tim's Book Plates. Well here's one more. The cover just was screaming for something else, but not too much. And the green metal inside it is subtle.

OH! Now this was FUN!

Since I got my box of goodies from Ranger....aka Idea-ology Tim Stuff...I needed to make a dangle on a pin I'd made in a demo.

I thought a bit of Alcohol Ink on the Ten Seconds Studio metal would be cool...it really is nicer in person. Don't we always say that?!?!?!? HA!

Gonna put it on my Ranger apron collection for classes.

Black Metal TSS Book

I thought this was going to be the back cover, but I ended up liking it better than the other cover....so it's on the front. This is a 7 x 6.5 Cover-All book
(6x6 actually to them).

This is the back. It is very hard not to get a big glare when photographing metal. But this Kabuka plate is FABULOUS! A Ten Seconds Studio mold.

Back inside slider page for pages. AND these were all done by hand with the stump because they're too large for the Cuttlebug. Just to let you know why you can't use it sometimes. And YES, my arms are aching tonight!

Inside front cover. Still have to get some pages bound and put in. But it's easier to photograph without the insert. So I'll pick some up tomorrow before having lunch with an Artist friend. Graphic45 papers here...of course.

A Little Time in the Studio

We've been kind of lazy here. Really enjoying the cool weather and the garden. Had to watch Wimbledon today....great match.

But here's what I decided I should work on today, after dead-heading the lilies.

It's going to be the cover of a Cover-All book. Originally I was going to put some Graphic 45 images over the the top. NOW I'm not so sure I want to cover any of it up....

Trying to decide what color metal to use for the slider tins in Davenport in August. If you have any favorites let me know in an email or comment.

They are all so pretty, it's hard to choose!

Some More Playing Around

If you read my blog, you know I'm a nightowl. My best work comes between 11 and 1....AM. So this is not a good picture, with sunlight, but I think it turned out pretty cool! Working on a sample board for Scrapaganza.

This is using 2 different molds, and a paper stump. I used Rock Star Black metal from Ten Seconds Studio. I always go back to that color. And the brush tool to distress the color.

Rather different from most of the other necklaces I've done.

Rough looking....maybe a bit pewter...ish. I don't know. Just different.

We're going to use this brush tool for sure now Saturday in class at Scrapbook Friend'z.

It's Been Decided!

I just got off the phone with Kelly from Scrapaganza in Davenport Iowa, and was ready to update you on our decisions for the classes ...... and I lost power! 45,000 people in Central Illinois are without!

BUT, at 8PM, we are back up and running! SOOOOOOO, here's the goods!!!!!

We could not decide which classes to have with G45 papers, the Journal or the Framed Collage......so we're going to do BOTH!!!

What more could you ask for?????? We'll have 3 classes on Aug. 15th. The Ten Seconds Studio Metal Jewelry, the Transatlantique Cover-All Journal, AND the Make it your Own Collage!!! Bring me your vitamins!!!!!

Seriously, it will be a blast. So give them a couple of days to get it figured out, and call for your spot. (Link on the sidebar)

AND they are going to get a TON of Ten Second Studio products. Cheryl from TSS assured me it will be there......no problem. So if you've been wondering what you just could not live without from TSS, this will be the place to go.

Alcohol Ink Pens

Just not quite finished?

You know how to make something, and it's OK...but you keep looking at it and it just still NEEDS something?

Well here is a gift carrier I kept looking at with Ten Seconds Studio metal, and I knew it still wasn't what I wanted. So.......after having the class with Wendy and the new Grungepaper the other day....that I LOVE...I added some flowers!! It just came together.

The paper is so easy to work with and the Studio 490 flowers with some Idea-ology are just what the box needed!

So take another look at things....rethink...and add. A little something goes a long way.

Alcohol Inks on Acrylic + Copper!

Margaret asked me to try something with this great little ornament the other day. This is a Pageframe Christmas Onrnament #2 piece of Acrylic. The middle section is punched with tiny hole to allow shiny ribbon to be threaded through so it can hang.

The Alcohol Inks were used on one side and paper on the other as Tim Holtz showed in his demo. Black ink stamped on it removes the color for a great effect. The copper side has a few rhinestones for glitz.

I also used Copper Mixative and Cinnamon Stickles on the the project. The last shot TRIES to show how the Ten Seconds Studio Copper on the middle section shows through for a really gorgeous color through the alcohol ink.

Periwinkle Metal Book Class

We're having another Ten Seconds Studio METAL class!!!

Some of you missed the 1st class with the jewelry and wanted another one. We're taking sign-ups for that. But, if you'd like to get your introduction to metal OR you want to learn another way to use your metal, come and join us April 19th at Scrapbook Friend'z!!!
