Tips and Tricks - Lots of Playing Around

I know I've been a bad blogger lately. But it's been really busy here with all kinds of "end of year" things going on.

Kindergarden graduation. HS Graduation. Class Kitting...we cut 65 Chunky ATC's this morning. Book making with the girls. Book keeping...(yuck). And getting the garden planted and mulched....yada. yada. yada.

So today I am waiting for glue to dry on a project with the new Archival Inks from Ranger....making some samples up.  And I thought I'd show you a few things to think about.

Did you know that painting with the Perfect Pearls and water on Graphic 45 Curtain Call-Moulin Rouge makes for a gorgeous work of ART????

The Peacock feathers are awesome...the boa is done with the white PP and it's stunning. Much prettier in person.

And did you know.....you can stamp on the new Metal Foil Tape from Ranger that's out now with the Ranger Archival Inks. You heat set and seal.  There's another way to do this I'll show you later.

The bottle is from Tim's Corked Vials with Alcohol Inks swirled inside for color. The stamps are Adverts from Tim.

And here's a little project I've been working on FOREVER!!! But note the background stamp. Tanya @ Stampers Ink where I'm teaching in August just bought Cornish Heritage Farm Stamps!!!!! YAY!!!

I LOVE their stamp blocks and backgrounders. The one in the picture is called "Stitches" from them.  SOOOOO....look for some great stamps coming back.

And last but not least....here's some of the new colors from Ranger's Archival Inks. Gorgeous colors...Viridian, Chrome Yellow and Venetian Orange. Just a sampling of the many colors. (They're great artist color names that I love) They'll be here soon. The Butterflies and Moths are from the Papillon set.

So many possibilities...........I'll bring them to the upcoming classes with some samples and you can see how fantastic they are.

Gotta go. The sunlight is so welcome in the Studio today..........finally!

Be Well and Be Good to Each Other.

Upcoming class

Time has really gotten away from me. The Olympics, the kids updating their house for market...SELLING the house!!! And it's almost spring!!!

By the end of next week it should be warming up a bit....then it will finally feel like Spring might be on the way.

In light of that, I thought I'd remind you of the TWO projects in the upcoming class on MARCH 13th at Scrapbook Friend'z. Not one, but TWO!

So the pictures are here for you to look at. Spring colors of Green and Pink. Happy colors and couple of fun things to learn with Metal, Grungepaper, Perfect Pearls, and Flowers.

I have all the new molds from Ten Seconds Studios you can use!!!!!!!!!!! And I'll show you the new colors of metal, too. GORGEOUS colors!!!!! I'll post a project I made later in the week with the new colors and molds.

Of course, we'll have to Distress Ink, Stamp, and glue to keep it interesting.

Hope to see you there!

Embossing Metal And Perfect Pearls Class

I always like to teach a technique in a class. Have fun. Make something cool. Have fun. And learn to use a tool you might not be real familiar with so you feel more comfortable. And Have Fun!!!

So, that having been said, I think this class is going to be really inspirational. You did ask for it after seeing my tool caddy/gift box at my last class, and it is combining Grungepaper, Ten Seconds Studio Metal, and Perfect Pearls.

This project is done in Brr-Blue, a dark metallic metal, but it could be done in any color. I hope to have the new colors from Cheryl to show you in class.

We will be working with molds from TSS, but I'll also show you a quick and easy way to work with this fabulous metal as well. So if you have an embossing machine...Cuttlebug or such, bring it along. You'll be amazed!!!!

Right now it's scheduled for Feb. 6th at Prairie Art Stamps. A slightly different version is on the back burner for Scrapbook Friend'z. Stay tuned!!!!

Hope to see you there....

The Finger Is Healed

I never showed you what I was working on when I sewed through my fingertip, did I?

It was definitely one of the most "Oh, %#*@!" moments of my life.

Anyhoo, it finally grew out. And it really never hurt too much. So today, after Emma was reunited with mom, dad, puppie and her own room, I broke out the wine, the chocolates the kids brought me, and took down the Grungeboard I had been sewing that day.

Here's a peek at the patchwork I had put together along with a Ten Seconds Studio flower cut with the Spellbinders flowers and added Dimensional Pearls and PP. Then the secret ingredient...UTEE!!!!

The GB has been run through the Cuttlebug, Distress Inked, and sprayed with the Mini Misters and Perfect Pearls. Then I cut it into pieces and sewed like a patchwork quilt and zig-zagged with smoke colored nylon thread.

It definitely was fun.....until the blood started to flow!!!!!!!!! Ha!

More snow here tonight, can't wait for Anaheim and warmer weather at CHA!

P.S. I hear from a little birdie that TSS has some FABULOUS new colors coming out soon......stay tuned!

Technique ATCs Class-Bloomington

You asked for it, I hope you like them. The girls wanted to do a class with ATC's and this is what I came up with. Scrapbook Friend'z-Bloomington, Il. Sept. 6th from 1-3PM.

There are at least 6 or more techniques in here learned from the Master....Mr. Holtz! Ha! Lots of Ranger products to use, and Tim Holtz Collage stamps!

We're working on a date and it might be sooner rather than later. UPDATE(Sept.6th)

They were really fun to come up with. I did change the flower on one as it was too much like the other one. And added a little more bling....it was a snap!
Literally.

Enjoy the day!

Holographic Embossing Powder and Perfect Pearls

This is a sneak peek at one of the elements for our Technique ATC class. It was soooooo hard to photograph!!!!
~
Every time I got the copper glow of the Holographic Embossing Powder, the camera would refocus and turn it to a black tar looking glob!!
~
Anyway....this is 10 time cooler in person. And the Perfect Pearls are vibrant.
~
I'm thinking something is attracting the butterfly. A really cool background. Change of plans...now it's Paint Dabber stamped and Distress Ink background...you will love it!!!!
~
You've heard it before....TRUST ME.....you'll love the look!!!

Heritage Page

I began this whole adventure about 8 years ago when my DIL invited me to a scrapbook party. I had a blast!!! New tools to buy, new ideas for paper...I LOVE paper.

Then a few weeks later, my dear junior high school buddy introduced me to stamps, and ink, and MORE papers. A monster was created!!!!!

BUT, I never found papers I really liked for my old vintage photos I had of life on the farm in the middle of Nebraska. I have some really wonderful photos I received a couple of years ago from my mom, so I decided with my new love of Graphic 45 papers.....get it on! I used Perfect Pearls and Distress re-inkers on the background paper for Family.

This is a combination of all kinds of "had to have" vintage things. Grandma was a one room school teacher and grandpa a Homestead land farmer. Hard times. She saw her piano go out the door during the Depression. But when she got the 2nd one with her money from teaching, she would sit and play and sing. I started piano at 5. Grandpa could play several instruments, although I never heard him. They would both be proud of Jeff...my teacher/band director son.

So here they are. Perhaps I'll follow with some more of children on the farm. She had my mom, the twins, and my youngest uncle within 3 yrs. The story is there was a set of triplets and 2 sets of twins. Only one set of twins survived. They put them in shoe boxes as beds since they were so tiny. And no pampers....whew!

Have a creative day!

More TSS Metal Plus Jewels!

I don't mean to belabor the point here, but I wanted you to see what a few rhinestones, a Dew Drop, and a couple of copper beads will do for these pieces. I used a new border embossing folder I bought today on the back slider tin!

Cool, huh?

And this little gem was made with one of the Formal Squares embossing folders! I LOVE IT! But it is late, and you should never take pictures at night ~very vintage looking don't you think? The background is some more Perfect Pearls with Re-Inkers sprayed on paper and the Numbers EF.

Decorated Box with Vintaj

This little box has been painted black. The paper is the same kind that Tim's tags are made from....a manila paper. I used the Perfect Pearls in mini-misters with reinkers I made up from an earlier post with the star.....very cool.
~~
Then I used some distress inks on the edges and added Vintaj pieces to the top and sides. I added a cool closure using Tim's trailer hitch in the holes with a beaded latch. The hitch fit perfectly. If you're at CHA, just take a look!!!
~~
My daughter and I are going to Chicago to see Wicked on Saturday! Can't wait. A bit of shopping, lunch and a Broadway Musical. Sound like fun? We're pretty excited. And NO kids.....hers....are going. Just us. Should be a good time.

Vintaj and Grungeboard

Always keep things that are only half done around the studio. Sometimes they are just the background you need for a project.
~
Here's some Vintaj pieces added to the large Fragment with the Alcohol Ink technique from Tim. It's a 5x5 canvas that has paper background of Perfect Pearls and Re-Inkers. I'm really liking the bit of glitz that adds to a papers. Add a bit of Grungeboard and that's it!

Very easy......Very fun!

And last, but not in the very least, here's my crew!!!! Warts and all....love them to pieces.

Go Create....it's too nasty here to do anything else!

Merry Christmas

Are you going to CHA-W....I'm not, but here's a project of mine that is going....and they don't care if you see it first! That's different, huh?

It's Maya Road chipboard, Tim Holtz Grungeboard, Idea-ology and stamps. The 2 pieces from Vintaj are at the top and on the Prima flowers.

Very fun piece! Oh, and the background is Perfect Pearls with Re-Inkers in the mini-misters. Too cool!

Kids are off to the other Grandparents.....time to CREATE something!

Thursday, December 18, 2008

Let me introduce you to Avery in the terrific collection from Paper Imagery Designs. Pretty cute, huh? The background paper was made with some of the Perfect Pearls from yesterday and a reverse use of Tim's mask. Get that....used the piece from the background of the mask....fun!

Then I added some Maya Road metal blossoms, another round metal piece, and a brad. Lots of pen stitches and some Swiss Dots with the Cuttlebug.

There's a contest here on the PID blog. Take a look!

More Pictures and another TLFT

I have to tell you about an amazing person I met at CHA. This is Melissa Kennedy with KaiserCraft. She wanted this little black and white button from another booth, but couldn't get away to get one. They were all gone, so I had to barter one of my cards with Amy Teets to get her one. Sometimes it takes so little to please us. What a hoot! (Please excuse my hair, it was raining in Chicago and it definitely contributed to a bad hair day). The album pictured is one of their displays. Too cool, heh?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Of course, Melissa is as talented as she is warm and friendly. How she kept 8 people going in a Make and Take at one time was unbelievable. But the papers and pearls, the rhinestones and brads were just drop-dead gorgeous!!!! Truly a treat.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Their wooden books, flourishes, albums, clocks and all around projects are right up my alley! WOW! Something very new and unusual. Loved it all.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I will be using their flowers and rhinestones in one of my upcoming classes.
Thank you Melissa for a very fun-filled class from a really classy gal!
Linda
*****UPDATE****
Forgot the TLFT~Tip Learned from Tim
OK, this will be a short one. When you mix the Perfect Pearls, water, and re-inker inks in your mini-mister you must shake it immediately. The binders in the PP will activate in the water, as they should, and will make a solid ball if not shaken up. Figures, right?
The Bag is ready to go!
Tim would be so proud. I used my Perfect Pearls that I won from him, my Golden Acrylics, foam stamps, and my black Sharpie pen! The bag has been around for awhile and needed some jazzing up, so the large pocket on one side got some decoration, and the stars are hung with the little pins from Idea-olgy. LOVE them.
One more night to sleep after tonight, and we are on our way to the Big Show!!!! Hope to get to the 2Peas Social on Saturday and meet some old friends!
See you there!
Holy Moly!
OMG! I won all the Perfect Pearls on t!m's blog!!! I've always looked at them and never bought them. Had to have all the Pearl Ex powders, but not the PP! And these are sooo much easier to work with. Thanks Scrapthat for letting me know. Will post some pics of messing with them.
WOW, what a PERFECT prize for me!
Have a CREATIVE day!
Linda
Don't forget to go to t!m's blog today especially because he's giving away a whole set of Distress Inks. Could not LIVE without my Distress Inks!!!!!!!
