IT'S A TIM HOLTZ PRODUCT GIVEAWAY!!!!!!!

You guys thought I forgot....no I wouldn't do that!!!! But I've had it done to me, and it ain't nice.

So anyway, here's how it goes.

The prize is 2 not one, but 2 SETS of Tim's fabulous Texture Plates, a Distress Pad in the wonderful new Bundled Sage ( I LOVE this color), and an altered tin with Embossed Metal and Rhinestones.

The slider tin is great for keeping buttons, jewels or extra mad money for crafting stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's made with Ten Seconds Studio metal in Kiss Me Pink metal.

The Texture Plates are Bingo & Patchwork and Collage and Notebook.

So leave a comment if you want a chance to win. We'll leave it open for a few days and see if anyone is interested.

Then we'll have a drawing for the winner.

I'll leave you with shots from my visit from the oldest Granddaughter and her friend last weekend. They came to play in the Studio and make more Grungepaper bracelets for themselves and their boyfriends.

It turned out to take longer and be more work than they anticipated. I think there were more on the list for presents, but the arms gave out. Ha, wimps!

The glass bottles are filled with with ribbons and have a little tag that says "Drink Me" with stamped images of keys and clocks on the outside. They must have seen Alice in Wonderland.

I've gotten 2 classes together and working on a third for the end of summer and into the fall. Things are coming along. Then we're off to cool climates later in the week! Yay, it's only supposed to be in the 70's there next week!!!!!

And can I also say USA, USA, USA.....and congrats to England. They both advance !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHOOHOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New Color for the Coffee Mug

I've had this coffee mug for at least 2 years. Cheryl Darrow from Ten Seconds Studios decorated it for me using black metal. LOVED IT!

Then the new metals came out........needed a different color....so it became Periwinkle. Lasted quite awhile.

Now more new colors...........SO..........here's the same cup, but in it's 3rd generation of colors.

LOVE it!!!!!! Knock you socks off Peacock blue.

Have a great day.

BEAUTIFUL Peacock Metal-UPDATE

***UPDATE-One of the comments said this color looked more green than blue. That is a result of the Luminarte misting and the angle of the shot. This shows the finished project on the left and the original metal on the right. The picture of the finished project is taken under an Ott light...not always good....but it's the only way I've found you can show a "metallic" affect that is very hard to photograph. If you look at the metal straight-on...it's more blue, at an angle...it's more green. See the color to the far left turning more green?

But, that having been said....I think the photo of original metal is too blue...it's really more turquoise. *****

This blue is truly GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have got to tell you. It's the Peacock color that Ten Seconds Studio just released.

I used a couple of new molds and the older diamond one here. Also used Lin Brown's fabulous "controlled squish" method to get out of spackling the back.

She is BRILLIANT!

Then I sprayed with some of the new Luminarte sprays(recently bought by Creative Imaginations) and added a bit of Alcohol Inks to the raised areas. Some black acrylic paint was used in some of the recessed areas as well.

TOO MUCH FUN!!!! I put it on a square canvas and will use it for something. But I had to show you how beautiful this new color is with the gold accents.

Ten Seconds Studio's New Stuff!!!!

You all know how I LOVE TSS metals and molds. Well, Cheryl sent me the new colors and all the new molds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I LOVE them all!!!!! And I'll bring them to class on the 13th!!!

Here is a 3 drawer box that I covered with the new Bronze Gold and some Barn Red thrown in for color. I also used a technique from the Great and Wonderfully talented Lin Brown of LB Crafts in the UK to add texture paste over the edges of the metal. Then stamp into the texture paste.

You must visit her blog. And if you're lucky enough to be in the UK, her classes are to die for......go look.

Anyway. I used the new Big Daddy molds 07 and 08. Don't you just love the words? And the Kabukas 07 and 10 for the wonderful Timepieces and backgrounds.

I added black acrylic paint and Glimmer Mist to the top for a more aged look.

White Acrylic paint was dabbed onto the texture paste just a bit.

It was fun, had a great time using the new stuff, and hope you get some inspiration from the pictures.

Upcoming class

Time has really gotten away from me. The Olympics, the kids updating their house for market...SELLING the house!!! And it's almost spring!!!

By the end of next week it should be warming up a bit....then it will finally feel like Spring might be on the way.

In light of that, I thought I'd remind you of the TWO projects in the upcoming class on MARCH 13th at Scrapbook Friend'z. Not one, but TWO!

So the pictures are here for you to look at. Spring colors of Green and Pink. Happy colors and couple of fun things to learn with Metal, Grungepaper, Perfect Pearls, and Flowers.

I have all the new molds from Ten Seconds Studios you can use!!!!!!!!!!! And I'll show you the new colors of metal, too. GORGEOUS colors!!!!! I'll post a project I made later in the week with the new colors and molds.

Of course, we'll have to Distress Ink, Stamp, and glue to keep it interesting.

Hope to see you there!

One More Sleep...then CHA!

First of all, I made a case to carry my jewelry when I travel a few years ago. It was actually a brushed metal case that a wallet came in for my husband.

I made it very early on in my days of Metal, and it needed to be updated. So, after looking to pack it, and thinking...YUCK! I ripped it apart and started over.

This is the PLUM metal from Ten Seconds Studio. LOVE the way it comes out after you use the steel brush tool on it. 15 Minutes, I'm not kidding, that's all this took. And YES, when I get back we'll be doing a smaller one with embellies for a class.

SECOND....go check out Tim's blog, like you haven't already!!! PAPERS!!! OMG, PAPERS!!! And I LOVE them ALL!!!!!!

TOO COOL....like I always say....BRILLIANT!!!!! The man is Brilliant!!!

Tomorrow...Up, Up, and Away! (hopefully) Will do my best to upload a few pictures! Otherwise...talk to you when I get back.

Busy Week!!!

A lot of water has gone under the bridge since I last posted.....and into my son's basement, through the grandson's Eagle Scout project, and out a leaking pipe in a ceiling. The Morton Marching Festival, run by my son, was INSIDE, due to a rain storm. Imagine 22 marching bands rolling through a high school from a tent area, to a community center, and into the gym....and it worked! WOW!
~
My daughter came for a 3 day visit! We had a pet crisis with an aging dog (daughter's) and a late night trip to take her home....her husband, was working overtime on his job, telephone man. We all worked in the telco field, so I know how that is.
~
Emma turned 4!!! Going on at least 16. And Erin won the grand prize at her school for highest magazine sales! Got to "roll in the dough" and ride in a HUMMER limo!!
~
Soooooo, now that things have settled down. I have been playing.
~

Here is a Maya Road tag, wings and blossom flower with a Paper Whimsy vintage photo and Ten Seconds Studio metal for a background. A piece of Grungeboard and an Idea-ology piece adorn the top. I used Perfect Pearls on the wings. Paint Dabbers added color on the hinge and a touch on the edges of the wings. The paper is from Graphic 45....I love that stuff!

I posted this and decided it needed something...I added dots to define the wings and make the colors pop in other areas...much better!

Be good to each other!

Guest Artist - Linda Brown

It's all about Friends in ART! And here is a new friend I met at CHA after corresponding for a bit. IS SHE TALENTED OR WHAT!!!!!!! This unbelievably beautiful gift arrived at my home from Linda Brown of LB Crafts in England. She is a lover of Ten Seconds Studio metal and tools as am I.

This is how she described the process of the creation to me:

"For the little bit of copper embedded in the UTEE, it has black paint dabber on it. Then the rest is painted with those paints and wax from Terra Bella. Basically, I use their white peasant acrylic paint as a carrier, then add a drop of their pure pigments to custom mix my own colours. When it’s dry add some wax and.....hey presto!"
*
Her skillful talent is shown here in the wonderful detail. Remember what I told you girls in St. Louis....."it just takes a bit of practice!" And this shows in Linda's work.
*
*
STUNNING!!!! Don't you think???
*
Thanks so much for the gift and the permission to post it.

These Hero Arts flower jewels were just the right color and size to add to this slider tin necklace. There are only a couple of spots left in the jewelry class.....and this is a technique you will be learning!!!!!

Another Piece of Metal

Here is one more little peak at what Dark Chocolate metal from Ten Seconds Studio can do for you!!!! This cover and back of a Bind-It-All book also shows what the steel brush does to accent the embossing. The cover is a single mold and the back uses 3 in different strips.

Answers

OK, here's some answers to a few questions.
The stump is a compressed piece of paper in the form of a fat pencil. You use it to impress the softer metal into the hard plastic molds. It's the grey thingy in the picture.

The colored plastic in the background are just a smattering of the molds you use to impress the metal into for your designs. The combinations are endless. And the black tools are decorative things you can use on the harder metal if you choose to get into that, and some can be used on the soft. But that's up to you.
The class will have all kinds of molds to use and the paper stumps will be provided. All you really need to bring is your imagination and a sanding block!!!

I promise you will come out of there thinking this was so easy to learn and it looks sooooo cool!!
And like my friend Wendy said in her blog the other day...it's no fun talking to yourself.....leave comments!!!! We LOVE them all.

Classes Are Up!!!!

Classes are up at the For Keep Sakes site!!!! Come and join the fun!!!! In both classes I will teach you to use the metal from Ten Seconds Studio that is sooooo easy. It lets you look like a pro with little effort. I KID YOU NOT! You will love this stuff.

The only tools you need to make these is a sanding block, a stump, and a mold. The stumps and molds are provided for you. Please bring a sanding tool. And I'll demo all the other tools from my collection, and you can try them!

We'll make at least 2 pins and a slider necklace to hide little treasures in. Decorate the pins with ribbons and dew drops and jewels. The sky's the limit with your imagination on this project!!

The Maya Road book has 11 sides to decorate. You can bring little pictures of family to put in it. Or just use the flowers and stamps to adorn the pages along with the jewels, chipboard, and buttons that come in the kit. Lots and lots of stuff to fill the book
.
Can't wait to see all of you again!

Tool Rack Redone!

I haven't been very good about blogging lately. But entries without pictures are somewhat boring, and I can't show you what I've been working on. Not a national secret, but some are being mailed off. We'll see.

Anyway, last night at about 10:30, I decided to redo my tool rack that holds my Ten Seconds Studio tools! (My daughter thinks it looks like something out of a "Mad Dentist's" office). DH made it for me and I had it decorated with metal tape that I no longer liked. So, out came the tools, the newer black metal and by midnight I had a better looking holder than before! This is what you can do with the molds and the metal. Front and back. Seriously!!!!! Isn't it too cool?!?!?! And very easy to do. Join the fun in St. Louis in September.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!

The Bag is ready to go!

Tim would be so proud. I used my Perfect Pearls that I won from him, my Golden Acrylics, foam stamps, and my black Sharpie pen! The bag has been around for awhile and needed some jazzing up, so the large pocket on one side got some decoration, and the stars are hung with the little pins from Idea-olgy. LOVE them.

One more night to sleep after tonight, and we are on our way to the Big Show!!!! Hope to get to the 2Peas Social on Saturday and meet some old friends!

See you there!

Getting Class Together

Talked to Nancy W. today at For Keeps Sake store. And the metal class is going to be great!!!! Cheryl and Megan at Ten Seconds Studio are so easy to work with, and the products will be there for us.

You guys are going to LOVE this metal. I've been using it for years, but this new softer metal is sooooo cool and easy to work with, it makes you look like a pro in 20 minutes!!! I SWEAR! And isn't that a terrific backgrounder stamp Open Plaid by Cornish Heritage Farms on the red paper??? Their stamps are wonderful and big for ...backgrounds!

Here is a Maya Road star coaster covered and using the Big Mama molds. It's not the class, but I thought I'd tease you with a picture of what you all will be able to do.

FUN~FUN~FUN!

Can't wait for CHA. I'll see the FKS girls there and hope to meet up with several other talented gals from all over. If you're going, I hope to see you there, too!

Time for sleep.....

MORE METAL

Played with more metal last night. Late into the night. Had to watch the weather as I AM the storm watcher for the family!!! They know they can go to bed and sleep without worry because I WILL be up making sure no one gets caught unaware!!! Yep, that's my job. Night Protector of the Storms....

Anyway, I painted 3 wooded letters with metallic acrylic paints by Plaid. Then I traced the letters onto 36g aluminum metal from Ten Seconds Studio. Emboss and deboss with tools. Attach the heavy duty adhesive to the back, and THEN cut out the letter. Very important tip there, it works best that way. Peel off the backing and lay the letter on top, carefully placing evenly around the edges. Burnish the edges with a wooden skewer or bone folder.

And it's done!!! Place in a prominent place in your home or studio, or give it to a budding artist as a gift!

Sneak Peek Hint

OK, as much as I HATE surprises and sneak peeks....here's a hint. It's Maya Road, it's Ten Seconds Studio Metal, and it's gonna be fun!!!!!

This is what's in store for you girls, and I did have one guy...a very talented guy I might add...in one of my classes in St. Louis at For Keeps Sake.

For those of you who have asked, we are tentatively on for Sept. 6 and 7th. Haven't decided what times or the classes yet. But this is one I've worked with Cheryl at TSS on to get the supplies for, so I hope you people there like the looks of it! Once you've seen how easy this stuff is to work with, and how professional it will make you look in a short period of time, you'll be HOOKED...as I was.

Sneak Peek of St. Louis Class

I hate surprises....so for me to give a sneak peek is weird! But you can't give away ALL the info, or no one will want to come to the class...RIGHT!

Anyway, these are some things I've been working on for a class with Ten Seconds Studio metal and their great molds. I LOVE it! It makes you really look like you know what you're doing...and we could all use a little of that once in awhile. Too much fun!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Mini Misters Holder

DH made me a holder for my Mini Misters ! Very simple, according to him and pretty crude, but it works for me. He used the drill press for the holes and I had to add some Crackle Paint and embossed metal to the sides. Getting ready for classes, and tomorrow is Wendy's classes in Bloomington. Will be great fun! Hope to see some of you there....you should not miss these!!!

Have a great day...and create!
