New Dylusions Stamps in the House

I just got some new stamps last week...the Doodle Parts set from Dylusions.

This is my twist on the set with the Ink Sprays from Dylan as the starting point.

Bright, yes, they're always bright. If you own them, you know that's a fact!

LOVE THEM!

The lower left corner is the Bubblegum Pink and the center is Vibrant Turquoise. Fresh Lime, Squeezed Orange and Lemon Zest make it fun. Everything else is a mixture of sprays, splotches, and runs.

The next step was using Jet Black Archival ink to stamp the new set around the tag.

I find the "Sea Creature" doodle just too much fun. That's my name for it, I'm sure Dylan has a better one picked out.

Then I got out the Distress Markers and the white Sharpie Pen.

I still wanted more definition, so I used the Black Glaze pen on some of the outlines and dots.

The Distress Markers add more color and shadows that make the contrast a bit more stark.

The tag is dark, so the white pen and the gold lame' bow on top made it brighten up and sparkle.

Love the Pens, the Stamps, the Inks and the Markers.

Take out a tag and just start playing.

Now the weekend pictures of family....I've GOT to share.

Remember the ALEX card I led you through....well here is THE ALEX.

One of 2 kids chosen to give a speech at the graduation ceremony for Moline HS class 2012 of 480 students, and he ROCKED it!

"He's Confident, he's funny and he's good-looking!"

And we are so proud of him!

Then remember the NO BAR CODE card for beloved granddaughter Brittany?

Well she liked it. Isn't she gorgeous???

And the necklace I gave her she has on is a Tim Holtz Bat charm I added 2 holes to it, and a chain.

The little ghoul (girl) loved it!

Be Well and Be Blessed...I am.

New Distress Inks From Tim-Can You Keep a Secret?

I recently got my new Spring Seasonal Distress pads from Inspiration Emporium!

Now I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Peacock Feathers....it's right up my ally....but I wasn't so sure about the other 2  colors....until I put them on a tag.

And YES, they are SUPER!!!! The Squeezed Lemonade is wonderful for that spot of "light" that you need to give contrast to your other colors.

And the Shaded Lilac, well it just speaks for itself....SEE BELOW....

Here's the "Can You Keep a Secret" part of the post.

This is going on my Grandson Alex's Graduation card.....and he, I'm sure, doesn't read my blog, so I'm pretty sure he won't see it.

And I'm positive he wouldn't care anyway!

So here's a little tutorial on the process...

Now, I started with the 3 new colors all around the tag.

As you can see, a single swipe shows the lightness of the 2 on the left, and the intense color of the Peacock Feathers on the right.

Also see how the overlap of the 2 on the right make a FABULOUS color.

I NEVER use just one color, or one layer of color. It's always several colors to create the intensity that I want.

Then I started adding more colors here in the sample to show how the colors mix.

Last I show you how Seedless Preserves and Ripe Persimmon from the Autumn Collection pads effect the other colors.

Here is the end result of my tag. Dark in some areas and rather translucent in others.

To lighten it up, I laid my Dylusions Number Jumble stencil over it and sprayed with water.

Then blotted it and hit with the Heat-it Tool.

You can see the difference and the outline of the stencil.

Then the Dusty Concord came out with  Julie Fei-Fan Balzer's The Crafter's Workshop-Mini Gears and the magic begins.

This stencil is TOO COOL!

I stamped the Chicken Wire stamp from Tim's Mixed Media set with Jet Black Archival Ink, and began using a black permanent pen to outline some parts of the stencil elements.
I heat set all the Distress Inks before I get out the white pen. Here the Sharpie Poster Pen.

Let your mind go to the ARTISTIC side of your brain and just have fun.

Squint...see where the piece "needs" something...color, white, a stamp....?

"Enjoy the Journey" and have fun.

The letters are cut from Grungeboard and Metal Foil Tape (thank you Mario) and the new Sizzix Bigz XL Alphabet Die - Word Play from Tim.

VERY fun! Then they're embossed with the Gridlock Texture Fade folder.

I layered up the tag onto 2 pieces of cardstock...I almost could not cover up the gears....

But, it needed to be for Alex, so on went the letters.

You can add some jute and a Locket Key to the top to balance out the space, and it's done.

I photographed it here on one of my favorite sheets of Tim's paper from the Kraft Resist pad that I've colored with Distress Markers.

So...give it a go.

Get your ink pads ordered and make some fun cards for all those
"grads to be" out there.

Now for Brittany's 21st Birthday card..

She literally threw herself on the ground and cried when I sent her a card that had "a BAR CODE on it, for Pete's sake!"  That was several years ago, but the picture is still in my head. They have their way, don't they?

Yes, she's an actress with several productions in her life, but she made her point.

And so, I'm off to make something for her as well.

Cause that's what Grandma's do!

And one last note....if you have not read this post by Lisa M. Pace, you should. She said it all, and she said it brilliantly. I personally spend at least 3-4 hours on a post...from start to finish. And the comments you leave us is what makes it all worthwhile...and not much more.

PLEASE read it here..... http://lisapace.com/2012/05/today/

It was a Dylusion-al Day !

What fun it is to get Stencils in the mail 2 days in a row!!!!

Stamps, Stencils, Spray Inks....yes, it's a great day in the Studio to play.

And thanks again for all the kits you ordered. They're all mailed out!!!

These are the end products....but how did they begin???

Let's get to work!

You remember the other day I showed you how I created 3 tags here?

OK, I used the one on the left for the Balloon Tag tutorial.

So I had the other 2 left to play with.

Let's start with the one on the right.

Using the new Dotted Flowers Stencil and Seedless Preserve Distress Ink, I added the image to the tag.

I LOVE how the stencils come alive with Distress Inks!

Onward....we need some contrast.

Add white dots with Snow Cap paint dabber.

Needs a bit more contrast.

Get out the Numbers Jumble stencil and the Black Soot Distress Ink.

Then maybe go a bit crazy with the White Sharpie.

Lastly, a bit of black pen and a stamp from Background Love with Jet Black Archival Ink.

And it's done!

You can do with it whatever else you want ....or just like it as it is.

Now the one with the Walnut Stain drops on it was fun, too.

Stamps, Distress Inks, Pens, and Stencils here as well.

The eye was my favorite on this one from the Pondering Petunia Collection.

I also used Stamps from Around the Edge, Background Love, and Basic Backgrounds from Dyan Reaveley's Dylusions.

Check out her tutorials...they are fantastic!

I added them to some black cardstock and let them be.

Let me know what you'd do with them....I'm all ears!!!

---------------Adirondack Inks and Paints--------------

This was a challenge.

Use Ranger Adirondacks products - inks and paints.

I had several Dye Ink pads, a few Pigment Pads, lots of Paint Dabbers and a whole bunch of Alcohol Inks.

So where to start. Add some white paint with a dabber and a stencil.

Flip it over and smoosh extra paint on the other page.

Then I rubbed all kinds of color all over a journal page using Direct to Paper and Cut-n-Dry foam.

Needless to say some of the colors were really bright like the Clover, Bottle and Terra Cotta.

I added some stencil work with Distress Inks and Paint dabbers.

The Seedless Preserves, Gathered Twigs, and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks really made the stencil work pop.

Gold paint dabber on the stenciled raindrops added some shine.

I love the Lemonade and Terra Cotta background with contrasting Distress Ink here.

Can you see the eyes coming from the corner....just a happy accident.

Some silver raindrops here and lots of white gel pen.

I traced some of the leaves with the stencil and added outlines and shadows.

This was a fun project, and a real learning experience on combining different types of inks and paints.

Explore and Expand!

I'm off to Prairie Art Stamps this weekend...can't wait!

New Tim Holtz Stamps

I LOVE the birdcage!!!!! And the bird is pretty cool, too!

This tag was made using Tim's Artful Flight and the stars from Rock Star. The flying birds in the background are from Mini Ornates.

I stamped with embossing ink and used Holographic EP on the bird. You cannot tell here, but he sparkles. And I roughed him up a bit with Black Soot Distress Ink.

Had to add some white pen marks for contrast.

This floral swirl stamp is sooo cool! You can put all kinds of wonderful dots using just the end of it. VERY easy to place them!!!!

And of course, the Idea-ology pieces adorn the bird. Gotta have some metal!!!

Have fun and Create ART!

Technique ATCs Class-Bloomington

You asked for it, I hope you like them. The girls wanted to do a class with ATC's and this is what I came up with. Scrapbook Friend'z-Bloomington, Il. Sept. 6th from 1-3PM.

There are at least 6 or more techniques in here learned from the Master....Mr. Holtz! Ha! Lots of Ranger products to use, and Tim Holtz Collage stamps!

We're working on a date and it might be sooner rather than later. UPDATE(Sept.6th)

They were really fun to come up with. I did change the flower on one as it was too much like the other one. And added a little more bling....it was a snap!
Literally.

Enjoy the day!

Tim Holtz Altered Bird

I guess this is as good as my Tim bird is gonna get. So here he is. You can get these birds at Paper Imagery Designs...very reasonably priced, too! FUN!

The house is using acrylic paint and Ten Seconds Studio metal on the roof and sides. A few white Sharpie dots add a bit of interest.

The bird has wings and head gear from Vintaj. He looks a bit evil in his coloring, but I kind of like him. The TSS metal in bard red and rock star black has a bit of stability added with......you guessed it....GrungePaper!

The hardest thing to come up with was his feathery topknot. Very thin red wire. Wrapped and cut for the added height he needed.

Get one and make it your own!

UPDATE: A couple of you asked how I did the roof. It is the same Barn Red metal as on the tail feathers. It has been run through the Cuttlebug with a TSS mold. The differentiation in color is because of the sunlight angle. Hard to take good pictures of the metal for this reason....at least for me!

Ding! Dong! FedEx Calling!

Someone rang my doorbell today and brought a lovely package. Two March issues of the wonderful book/magazine Bead Trends, and a nice gift certificate for free BEADS!!!! Whoo!Hoo! MAKE MY DAY!

You can hardly tell this is a picture and not the real thing in front of you. Their shots are amazing to say the least.

I used Vintaj Brass Co. bead elements, papers, stamps, Distress Inks, and of course...Tim Holtz's stamps Nature's Moments on the back. The image in the middle is from Paper Whimsy. Love that little face!

Embossing Paper and Metal

Here is some paper run through the Cuttlebug. Then using Snow Cap pigment ink over the raised portion, it adds just a bit more dimension! This thing is sooooo cool!
~
Chipboard, Rub-ons, and flowers from Maya Road, with glitter, paint pens and Alcohol Inks added to everything.

The possibilities are endless!

Cloud9 Bookbox

Here's the breaking news! In April I am teaching at For Keep Sakes. That's not the news, but Tuesday I spoke to Stephenie Hamen at Cloud9/Fiskars and they are going to sponsor me at Scrap St. Louis in my classes!!!! WOW!!! Did I die and go to heaven???? These ladies are soooooo nice! Amy and Nancy are the girls who started this company and still have their creative fingers in it. Thank you guys for everything!!

This is the bookbox that I LOVE!!! They have white, black and this color, kraft. No painting necessary and all paper is applied flat....no going around corners!!! The book fits inside so nicely. I made one last Christmas for a shop sample and it was really great to put together. Terrific quality in the product.

The papers, stickers, rub ons and quote cards are from the Cocoa Mint and Cinnamon Stick collection. Wonderfully coordinated for color and the embossing on the papers is too cool!!!! Really! You can't see it as well in the picture, but it's there. The glitter on some of the flowers is very classy. And glitter rub ons!!!! They were really slick.

FUN ~ FUN ~ FUN!!!! And I'm not easily impressed!!!!
Can't wait to see what's in the pipeline that we can use for April.....you'll be the first to know.

Linda aka a VERY happy camper!
