Tim Holtz- Sewing Room Project

Another day of ugly weather, so I might as well post a picture of a project. I really got so engrossed in gluing my Graphic 45 Steampunk project, I forgot about the blog posts.

This is a hanger I found at Craft's Direct when I was up in Minnesota last fall. I'd been saving it for something special, and when I got my "Tim Goodies" I knew it was definitely what I needed. I love the black enamel knob on the hook. Wish I'd bought a boxful of them now!!! Would be a great class.

I sprayed it with Adirondacks Color Wash Sprays as well as the Grungepaper Dress Form and the Lavish Trimmings ribbon. I used 2 colors to make a variegated look Red Pepper and Sunset Orange.

This is using Tim's new Alteration Die Sewing Room. How fun is this??? It has the dress form, spool image and a button shape. The papers are his Crowded Attic Paper Stash collection and the Accoutrements top it off. I used a stamp from Mini-Ornates collection on the spool.

I penned in hand-stitching along the edges but used the real sewing machine down both sides.

The wings are Distress Inked with Old Paper and Sprayed with Kiwi Perfect Pearl Mists. Hard to see, but really sparkly in person. Love it on the Grungeboard Elements Wings.

Somewhat glad to be home and not at the airport trying to get back to Illinois. A lot of states here are bracing for a Winter Blizzard tonight. I can hardly wait!!

Ranger's Designers Challenge - CHA

RANGER'S DESIGNER CHALLENGE

PERFECT PEARLS AND PERFECT PEARL MISTS

I struggled with this challenge as to what to do. My dear husband, bless his heart, asked me what I started in, and what was my "thing." (I never really knew he thought this deeply.)

I said "oh, I suppose my Row Houses, like in my blog header." "Well then, do them ," he said. I LOVE that man!

The peak here is Grungeboard with Rusty Hinge and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks then the gold is PP as a paint in the diamond pattern.



We were sent PP, Mists and a frame. The rest was up to us. I always like to build the houses from chipboard, add papers, stamps, mists, and photos with frames of some sort. Some are painted with PP and water in a paste. Some are sprayed them stamped with acrylic paint.



Two frames have rub on adhesive designs with the dry PP brushed on. This was very cool, I thought. Three children are from Tim's Lost and Found paper stash. The other 2 are from Collections. The large blue Grungeboard flourishes were painted with PP and water by brush and Misted with a spray.


The little gal in the Memory Frame is so cute with the bow. The metal pieces were painted with black acrylic paint and sprayed with Perfect Pearls Mists as was the frame. I also used Tim's Shabby Chic paper stash throughout.

Many of the layers of trims were different edges from Tim's Alterations On- the-Edge dies. Too many to name.

The metal star is from Vintaj. You must go see Jess at BeadSmith's and Sizzix's booths at CHA for cool new tools for embossing metal!!! She is brilliant!!!

More CHA "Full Peeks" for Tim and Ranger

Can you stand to see another piece I made for Tim's booth for CHA? Don't want to bore you, but here is one more. This is with the Ranger Foil Metal Tape. This is right up there with my favorite new product ever!!!! You will not believe the possibilities of this fantastic new line. For all new products here check them out on Tim's Blog for pictures and descriptions.

This is run through the Vagabond (best thing I ever bought) with the Damask Texture Plate. The black acrylic paint is painted on and then wiped off when still slightly wet. Buff off and it's just that COOL!

I used a wooden shadow box frame sprayed with Adirondack Red Pepper Color Wash. Then I used black acrylic paint in the the recessed area.

I sanded the edges to distress a bit. Added the new Journeyman Tissue Tape from Tim, and glued a piece of black satin trim all around the outside. A Curio Knob on top added a bit of dimension with a round piece of wood.

The inside is very hard to get a good shot of, but you can see a new Pen Nib with the word on it, Accoutrements with Alcohol Inks, new Kraft Resist paper in the background, and Film Strip Ribbon attached with the Tiny Attacher in the background.

I also used some new Bingo Game Pieces painted black and my favorite old photo from the Lost and Found Paper Stash. The paper in the back is from Tim's new Crowded Attic collection.

Done, done and done. I really love this Foil Tape more than you can imagine. It is wonderfully shiny, and the sticky back makes it a dream to work with. You will LOVE it.

Umbrella Man Collage for CHA-Full Peek

Tim's new Alterations are extremely cool. So are the new Idea-ology pieces and papers. The Adirondack Sprays cover like nobodies business. Mix them up and the colors are really rich. I used Butterscotch, Red Pepper, Espresso, and Sunset Orange on this paper mache wall hanging. Blend them with a brush and they are stunning!!!

This was one of my favorite projects for Tim. I used the new little Bottles. They are so much fun to work with by adding alcohol ink in them, swirling it around, and letting it dry before adding beads or other embellishments.

Ranger Foil Tape - I LOVE it!!!!

Hi there Bloggers! Here is a card I made for Ranger for CHA!!! And the project was really fun!!

The base is Tim's new Kraft Resist Paper and chipboard layered onto 2 layers of cardstock. I cut around for an edge at each level. ....thank you Jennifer McGuire for that idea. Both a Hero Art and Tim Stampers Anonymous stamp are used with Jet Black Archival ink.

This card highlights the new Ranger Foil Tape. It is so cool! It has a sticky back so no adhesive is needed. They have it up on their blog today, too!

Here I applied it to Grungepaper and cut with the Tattered Florals Die. You can add Alcohol Inks in various stages for different effects. Then its embossed with different Texture Plates, and lightly sanded. I cut a Tattered Leave in two for the narrower leaves.

Bend the petals as you like. The Foliage center has Silver Metallic Mixative and Alcohol Inks blended that I painted on with a brush. Layer up and adhere with a brad in the center.

Layer some of Tim's Shabby Chic paper that's been Distress Inked and stamped, onto black cardstock and then onto the lavender card.

Tie the silver cord in a bow and you're done!

Distress Inks - Dusty Concord, Black Soot.

Texture Fades - Cracked, Dot Matrix and Gridlock.

Stamps - Fancy Flourish, Hero Arts Magical Background

This picture reminds me of my Grandmother. She died when I was a baby, and I never got to know her. So all I have are photos to remember her by. Love this gal in the hat.

Painting and Spraying with Perfect Pearls

Suze posted a peek at her Ranger Designer Challenge so I feel compelled to put one up for you guys to look at, too, cause this was SO much fun to do!!! You know me and Row Houses....right? They were probably one of the 1st things I made with chipboard, metal, and "happy crap" as my daughter politely calls my collectible "stuff that makes me smile." Ya gotta love somethin'!

So when Ranger sent Perfect Pearl Mists and Perfect Pearl Powders....I mean, hey, I'm goin' with the houses! You cannot go wrong with Tim's Alterations Dies, Grungeboard and Grungepaper. What a match for trimming out these little guys.

Then, look at the Mists on the metal that was embossed, painted with Pitch Black Acrylic Paint Dabber and sprayed with the Sunflower Sparkle PP Mist!!! Amazing or what???? The frame was painted black and sprayed with Heirloom Gold It shows up silvery!

Tim's Crown Charm is painted with a brush with Copper Metallic Mixative. Love that stuff on metal. And all the shiny colors you see are Perfect Pearls and water mixed to form a paint. It's on the frame and cutout Grungeboard pieces layered on the houses for dimension.

I used Tim's Lost and Found Paper Stash for the background and most of the houses. Here and there is some Shabby Chic thrown in for contrast. I also used Clear Snaps Design Adhesives on the frames. They are a rub-on adhesive that LOVES to be used with the Perfect Pearls.

See the diamonds on the frame? Yep, PP on the adhesive designs. Works like a charm. Try it and let me know what you think!

Then Miss Erin was the winner in her 4th grade class for the spelling bee. Two kids from each class of 4th, 5th and 6th graders then competed today for school champion. Everyone was so nervous, but they all were great!!!Longest competition the Principle can remember. See the cute guy next to Erin...she's the blond on the end left in front? He's in 4th grade and he WON! Beat all the older kids.

Way to go Grundy Gators....or is it Gaters...Spellcheck please!!!

Tim's Kraft Glassine Paper Flowers

Oh, the possibilities of the Tim's new Kraft Glassine Paper!!! And Tim's new Crowded Attic Paper Stash need little or no alteration here!!!!! I LOVE this new line, soooo up my alley! The Journeyman Tissue Tape goes hand-in-hand with the vintage papers added to the container.

The flowers are cut from the Kraft Glassine paper with the Tattered Florals Die. Stamped with Archival Inks in Coffee, Jet Black, and Olive, they have a translucent quality that is really amazing. I crumpled the papers and added a simple brad for the centers.

The container is a wooden tube that is painted with Claudine Hellmuth's Studio Paint in Charcoal Black and the top is just a wooden accent screwed into it. The base is a wooden plaque. I use the Aged Mahogany Crackle paint on parts and added Black Soot Distress Ink over the top.

The Tissue Tape has Hazelnut and Sandal Alcohol Ink added for a bit of color. I glued everything on with Matte Multi-Medium, and sealed with a 2nd coat when dry. This really makes it nicely permanent over the Tissue Tape, too.

Add a piece of trim around the lid and whatever other embellishments you want. I was going for Simple here, which is pretty much against my grain, but I thought it would make a great gift, or container for a gift, for a man.

My maiden name was Holtzer, hence my nickname from Jr High is Holtz (funny, heh?) The internet says the name from German ancestry means "worker of wood". I LOVE working with wood and paper, perhaps it's in my bloodline. We've been dabbling in the Ancestry.com lately, my son and I. Found lots of REALLY interesting stuff from clear back to the 1400's. Another addiction, for sure.

Sneak Peek-Tim's Kraft Resist Paper Stash

Hey Bloggers! Is anyone ready to see some of Tim's new Kraft Resist Papers? Got permission from the Master to share!

Yep, this is the new and wonderful Kraft Resist Paper Stash! See the cool resist with the Distress Inks around the Moths and Butterflies??? It's a clear enamel design. So extremely COOL!

The Foundations just have Metallic Mixative Gold applied to make them to go with the hinges and clasp. I love the combination of Teal and Brown with Gold. Regal.

My father and grandfather were trained in Upholstery. Dad had me help him with the machine sewing on occasion. I have always loved the look of Upholstery Tacks. Rich looking I think. I added them for a more finished look.

I used Tea Dye, Spiced Marmalade, Wild Honey and a dash of Rusty Hinge, Distress Inks on the paper. The box is from Hobby Lobby. I painted it with Claudine's luscious Classic Teal acrylic paint. Then I used the Classic Black paint with a glazing fluid to create a glaze that ages the bright colors to a vintage look. The papers were added to the box with Claudine's Matte Multi-Medium. (Love that stuff) Use it to add the Foundations.

And lastly, I added the Fancy Flourish with Coffee Archival ink here and there just to fill in the spaces.

So there you have it. Just one of the pieces I got to make with the new and wonderful things from Ranger. Enjoy and start saving your pennies!!!

News of the Day

Well, everyone, the projects are done and packed....shipped off to Tim this morning. So now I am officially TOAST! No, just kidding. But I do have a book, in the old-fashioned form of paper, calling my name.

AND the news of the day is Inspiration Emporium has announced a Design Team. Joy Kennedy, good friend to Tim and Mario, and her brother Jay, have a FANTASTIC on-line store. They will carry all the wonderful Tim and Ranger Products that you will want and need!!!! Plus much, much more!!!!!

GLEE wins!!!

Can I just say GLEE ROCKS!!!! I totally forgot all about the Golden Globes tonight. I so wanted to see Glee win....and Chris and Jane...WHOO HOO! Amazing.....he is so talented. Sings and acts from the heart.

What more can you say about Jane Lynch??? What a hoot to watch.

And thanks for all the comments and emails about the Nook, and Kindle. You guys really came through, and I agree with all of you. You are the BEST!.

Anyway, CHA assignments done....I'm happy, Tim's happy.....and FedEx gets them tomorrow!!!! I had a blast.

Now, anyone who knows me knows I'm easily amused.....look at this bottle and how cool the Espresso Alcohol Ink swirled inside it. Ages it in a matter of moments.

And I combined some turquoise beads and gold micro beads to create a potion.
Too fun.

Lunch, Presents, and Shopping

Yesterday was a good day. We had our Annual Christmas get-together. It had been delayed, but it's always a treat after we've survived "the Family" togetherness and fuss. Someone else does the cooking, and we just eat!

We started out as Watercolor Artists taking class together years ago, and found our kids already knew one another at school. Then we just got together here and there to paint, and enjoy each other's company and support. Life's changes for the "Sandwich Generation" can always use all the help it can get.

Ann and Susan are both extremely talented women on so many levels. One a teacher, and one a nurse/administrator, but always a mother, grandmother, a daughter, an Artist, and a friend. So we love to share that fun gift that no one else would give you.

The Snow Crab Ravioli was OUT OF THIS WORLD- wonderful at Biaggi's. Sue and I both ordered it. And after at least 2 1/2 hours of talk, they kicked us out, no, we packed up and went to do a bit of shopping. Hey, what's a girl to do?

Swim suit shopping in the dead of winter at our age isn't fun. One of us did well.

So I had to rush home and get things mailed off to Ranger on a dead run to get them in New Jersey by Tuesday. I checked the emails for what they wanted while I was away. THANK YOU BEN at Pumpkin Postal! What a guy. Always cutting it close, and he knows where it's going! Patti, he has you in his data base! (I was out buying Bubble Wrap at 10PM at Walmart last night for Tim Stuff...my husband thinks I'm crazy...but that's a given! It goes Monday.)

I've Been a Bad Blogger

OK, I haven't posted much lately. Busy working on some CHA stuff. Waiting for a package that hasn't gotten here yet, and I'm getting a bit edgy about that.

So, anyway, if you haven't already been there.........go to TIM'S blog and see all the new dies he has put up to show you.

Can this be any more fun???? I LOVE this Umbrella Man....and hope to put some glue to his little body sometime soon.

And the HOUSES!!!! OMG!!! Are they right up my everlasting alley or what?????

A Project to Share

Now this has several different elements in it. It is a glass faced shadowbox. And it's very hard to photograph.

The metal is from Ten Seconds Studio as is the mold that was used on it.

The rest are from Tim and his various papers, charms, dies and Grungeboard. And some stamps, too.

I had forgotten about this project and had planned to send it to a magazine, but that must have slipped my mind (or I found it too much work....more likely).

I love to see my stuff published, but it's a whole lot more fun to make them and just share with you guys.

So, enjoy. I got my Tim Holtz box of goodies today for CHA creations, and I must say.......you will LOVE everything!!!!!! And I'm not kidding. It takes a lot to impress me, but I am thrilled with the new papers and Idea-ology pieces.

Oh, you better make room for the new things in your stash of "gotta haves."
