Enjoy Life - Cherish Memories

I'm thrilled to be on the Creative Team again for another term, and there are some wonderful new products out from

And I'll show you a couple of them I used for this Journal layout.

I started with a small journal that I've neglected lately. This is just the one side of the layout.

I covered both pages completely with Heavy Black Gesso. I like to lay a piece of paper under the page I'm painting to keep the rest of the book protected.

Next I sprayed with mixtures of water and Mica Powders. Here I used Gold, Frozen Lake and Black Cherry. Where the gesso is heaviest you can then scratch marks into the dampened paint with a bamboo skewer.

I start adding texture using Antique Silver Crackle Texture Paste and the Lattice stencil.

Then I pull out my collective leftover stash of Micro Beads and Glass Glitter and sprinkle into to paste while it's still wet.

I add more Silver Micro Beads throughout the Lattice. Then I spray again with the Mica Sprays.

This is a close-up of the Antique Silver Crackle.

I added white contrast with a few stamps and a paint dabber. The Ripped Fishnet stencil also is used with the white paint. Here you see my favorite stamp from the Net and Wire Cling collection.

The fine detail of the Limited Edition-Clear Stamp-Notes was perfect for rolling on more white stamping accents.

The Butterflies were stamped in a couple of places. I also added Tangerine Mica Spray to the pages. It really brightened these pages up!!!

Whenever I use Ephemera Vintage Collectables papers I like to add Distress Inks and pens for a bit more color and shadows.

The Resist Canvas sheets are so cool to work with. Here I tore a strip of the Lace Border, frayed the edges and then sprayed with the same Mica Sprays I used on the pages. I LOVE how this turned out.

Now it's time to start laying things out. Some pieces will stay.....and some will go.
I like the way the Ephemera-Melange go nicely under the Children to create a frame.

First I basecoat the metal pieces with Heavy Black Gesso, then I mix Mica Powders with Soft Gloss Gel to create a paint.

Here the Gold Opal Magic is shown on an arrow. I later added Summer Sky for more of a brighter contrast.

This Mechanical from Leaves-2 turned out great using the Copper Mica Powder first and then a light coating of Green Opal Magic on top.

Here is a detail shot of the Copper Glass GlitterSilver, Berry and Splash Micro Beads, the Gold Leaf Flakes, and the white paint accents.

It's all glued together with 3D Matte Gel, even the extra canvas strings.

Dream On, and Now is the Right Time Cling Stamp Collections were used for the background.

The tops of different ephemera and the edges of the pages are all dusted with Copper Inka Gold as a finishing touch.

That's it for today. Hope you've enjoyed the journey. Be sure to check out all the Finnabair Creative Team and Anna's projects on the
Finnabair Blog.

As always, let me know if you have any questions or comments.

  4. Oh MY! Linda your journal layout is absolutely fabulous . All that lush texture , detail and build up of colour . Love how the gold and the tangerine create a sense of light peeking through the darker tones and the blend of all the colours together give a real warm richness to your pages . All your ephemera is effortlessly arranged, not a piece out of place .
