A Tim Hoodie Sighting and a Few More Pics...

There were very few clouds last night, so the sunset was totally different. This sailboat had stored it's sails and was coming in for the night across the sunset sky.

There was a sighting of a Tim Holtz hoodie in the marina. The sunset really made my hair look red!

And boy was I glad I packed some socks!!! Down there on the waterfront at that time of day is really a bit chilly.
The kid who runs the Boat Cruises wanted to take our picture....Bill hates getting his picture taken. BUT, this one turned out pretty nice. At least I liked it. And you can even see that he's smiling.

The garden and fountains in the back of the Inn are a great place to sit and enjoy a glass of wine in the evening. And they have snacks every afternoon around the bar at 4. Seems like all we do is eat and shop......what a life.

The Walk Away shops are right behind the Inn and a brand new Cheesecake shop just opened. They were out taking pictures in the gardens.

Just a few more flowers from the area. They are so fabulous this time of year.

Well, we leave sometime tomorrow. I've done my best to help the economy. I have more Beads, Earrings, Art Supplies and canvases, a T-shirt for Bill that has an ugly fish on it and says "Crappy Attitude" (get it?), candy, scrapbook papers, a garden ornament, a silk flower arrangement, and I may shop on the way home.

It's been fun showing you some of the sites. I hope if you get the chance, you will go up and visit. It is a wonderful place to relax....and it was 67 degrees today.....absolutely PERFECT sky blue weather.

One last dinner and a sunset........breakfast in the morning.....and we'll be off.

Another Day in Door County

These are the goats that are on the roof of the restaurant almost daily. I always wonder how they get down at night. Still don't know.

This is one of the many carved Trolls found around Sister's Bay.

This is the famous Wilson's in Ephraim. It's a hoppin' spot for burgers and ice cream.

Don't you love these flowers on this jacket? It was in the shop at Johnson's that has many handmade things from Sweden, Denmark and Norway.

The light is supposed to be different and extremely wonderful for artists up here. I don't know about that but the flowers love the environment. They're all over and gorgeous.

Off to see another sunset and have dinner.

Hello Door County

We pulled into Sister Bay after winding our way along the little towns on the bay side.

We stopped by Oscar's new shop and discussed upcoming dates for classes. What a terrific new place she has in Egg Harbor in the Main Street Shops. LOVE it. Great location. Stop in, she is ready to roll with new classes and great products.

Then Fish Creek was booming with all kinds of shoppers. We'll go back tomorrow.

And Ephraim of course was a delight. Wilson's was packed. Could smell the burgers.

We opted to go to the Northern Grill in Sister's Bay after checking in. The Churchill Inn is Bill's favorite place because of the great breakfast in the morning and snacks around the English bar in the evening.

We have a high four poster bed with a balcony overlooking the front garden. I'll get some shots tomorrow, but this one is from the harbor looking out to Peninsula State Park on Green Bay at sunset. The kids were catching fish and making the grandpa take them off the hook for them! ha!

Looked around at Al Johnson's, but the goats had gone in for the night.

Maybe tomorrow.

Sleep well, I know I will!

I'll leave you with shots from my visit from the oldest Granddaughter and her friend last weekend. They came to play in the Studio and make more Grungepaper bracelets for themselves and their boyfriends.

It turned out to take longer and be more work than they anticipated. I think there were more on the list for presents, but the arms gave out. Ha, wimps!

The glass bottles are filled with with ribbons and have a little tag that says "Drink Me" with stamped images of keys and clocks on the outside. They must have seen Alice in Wonderland.

I've gotten 2 classes together and working on a third for the end of summer and into the fall. Things are coming along. Then we're off to cool climates later in the week! Yay, it's only supposed to be in the 70's there next week!!!!!

And can I also say USA, USA, USA.....and congrats to England. They both advance !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHOOHOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What Can You Do With LUMINARTE?

Well, to begin with, you can paint chipboard, as I've done here in the background. You can paint Petaloo flowers. These are all painted with Twinkling H2O's except the green one in the center. VERY vibrant colors from LUMINARTE!!!

The birdcage, fancy flourishes, and baroque are from TIM .The birdcage is crackle painted then the dark blue Ocean Wave was used over the crackle. This collage is done on an 8x8 canvas board.

And this is just a craft store unfinished wooden birdhouse painted with various colors of Luminarte paints. The butterfly is also painted after being stamped on Grungepaper and cut out.

This is a tag page from the Bare Elements Brenda book from that I cut apart. Various H2O's were painted randomly on the tag and the overlay, Antique Floral transparency from Narratives, is added with brads. I used a black Faber-Castell PITT artist pen to add more leaves to fill out the design. It doesn't have to be perfect, just capture the main design of the flowers.

So, that's just a few things you can do with Luminarte! Give it a try. I've been running around all day, so later in the week we'll get a picture of the prizes and get that going.

The Weekend and Soccer Junkies

This is the book I made for Teresa Collins using her Welcome Home collection. Beautiful papers and the Burgundy Petaloo flowers looked just great with them.

I used Tombow brush markers to add red accents to the papers and a golden brown to the inside of the letters. I like the contrast.

The Chipboard pieces were really fun to work with. You can leave them black and white, or add a bit of color. It's your choice.

Stickles light up the chandelier for a bit of glitz.

This is on a craft accordion book that was just the perfect color to go with the Welcome Home collection. The smaller flower in the Mulberry Street Tyedye collection above has Stickles on it. That's the sparkle effects you see. There's a bit of Tim on the clock, he's always there somewhere.

I'm just going to say this and move on.....WE WERE ROBBED!!!! OK, still don't see the foul on the winning goal for TEAM USA!!!

Good game, and we're still in it.

Brit is coming down for the weekend. So I'm taking some time off to see her this weekend. Her Grungeboard bracelet took a bath, and well, it just needs to be replaced. Tell a teen you need to take things off once in awhile!

Oh, I got 2 extra Texture Plate sets. Seems I ordered some, bought some at Scrapbook Friend'z, and ordered the same ones again. Think enough of you out there would want to have a giveaway of these? BUT, ha, this is where I really love to work. In the GRUNGE, or VINTAGE area.

This is what I find easier to put together. Maybe because I've done more of it, I don't know.

This was so much fun.

Tim stuff, of course, the little dots around the edge are with the new Black Enamel Accents from Ranger. And I used Chipped Sapphire on the blue paper.

The flowers are with Tim's Die, Tattered Florals, sprayed with Luminarte, and stamped with the Artful Artifacts alphabet stamp. Olive Archival Ink was used on the background blue paper ( all 3 of Tim's great paper stacks are in this) and another one of Tim's stamps. (Hey, the man can really design STAMPS!)

Since this is a shadow box, it was hard to photograph without a shadow. But the BOX is from Petaloo. Their All White Peony Box Blends comes in this VERY cool black slider box! I LOVED it!

The Tissue Tape around the box worked out just perfect. That stuff is a MUST. WAY cool!!!

The rest of the embellishments are from Tim, except one little flower center.

Now, for the Luminarte, man, is it FULL of mica. It is really, really, fun to work with. You can't believe the shine of this stuff. I'd show you something I'm working on, but you know the old %@&**, it's a secret.

These paints have been around for a long time, but Creative Imaginations just "new and improved" them. You can paint, spray, daub, and do all kinds of wonderful things with them. You know them as Twinkling H2O's and Radiant Rains.

So keep an eye to the sky. I'll be back with some more fun stuff I've done in the last few months that I've been saving.

Today I am happy to report I'm the Guest Artist on Teresa Collins blog. I used her new line Welcome Home.

This is a page done with a combination of Petaloo Flowers and Teresa Papers. The flowers were so much fun to add black pen marks to make an even greater contrast to the black and white page.

Stamping Again

I really haven't stamped something major for a long time. And it's really what I love to do, so I dug out the most recent Tim stamps and used David from Artful Artifacts for the 1st time.

He really has a very haunting look, don't you think? I used the Vintage Shabby papers and Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink..........oohhhh, it is so rich! Love it.

The baubles in the foreground are just a few of the pieces I picked up at the Junction City Art show in Anecdotes. That is such a cool shop.

Sports today......our Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup, and today we'll be watching the Americans in World Cup Soccer. Hopefully it will be a good game.

Lots to Say Today

First off, this is a little something I made using the fabulous papers from Teresa Collins!!!! I LOVE black and white....but you guys know that from some of my other projects. This is the Welcome Home collection. Her lines are so clean....love them all.

Stay tuned as I'm going to have a surprise later with her Welcome Home line the end of June. The flowers, of course are from Petaloo. They are so much fun to play with. I colored the stamens here with a permanent marker brush. Gives great contrast.

Then, my friend Lisa Visel has a great new online shop Scrapin' Deals and Steals!!! You can buy all kinds of cool stuff there in bundles. But wait, there's more!!!!!!!!!!! She has Petaloo flowers in this bundle!!!!!!

So, if you can't find them locally, go to Lisa's online shop and get a sampling....and other must have things. Whoo! Hoo!!!! Direct to you from your own home.

Next, 6 weeks until CHA!!! A whole lot of very cool stuff coming out from Creative Imaginations..........exciting stuff there. I'll post a Luminarte project later this week that I did for the Grandson. Stay tuned.

Going up to Door County the end of June. Oh, we love it up there. Going to see Oscar's new shop in Egg Harbor. Should be a great relaxing trip.

Tim's Texture Plates and Vintaj Brass

Keep in mind, I'm no jewelry maker. I dabble in it like I do way too many other things. But this is such a cool technique, I had to show it to you.

This Altered Brass Blank from Vintaj was run through the Cuttlebug with Tim's new and fabulous Texture Plate Bingo. I still can't believe that stuff embosses through the machine. Amazing!!!!

Then you use Alcohol Inks to color the debossed area. Sand off and that's it.

The other pieces from Vintaj are Curving Fern, Bead Caps Blossom, Ornate chain, Woodland Leaf, and rivets. Of course you have the green beads, jump rings, and eye pins, too.

This was really a fun project. But I'm much better at stamping, in my opinion. Like most things, it just takes practice. And better eyes!!!!

On another interesting note, we had at least 3 tornadoes rip through the area the other night. Lost power for a tiny bit. But no damage to us. The poor Artists out at the Junction City Art show weathered it pretty well. It was such a change on Sunday when we went. Great show and did buy a few baubles. Bill saw some of the damage today when he went to breakfast with friends. We were very lucky.

And I had a couple of questions on previous blog entries. The "stuff" above and below the picture in the LO called TJ and Me is trim I bought down in Missouri at Sherry's shop.

And Jan wanted to know if there were any other layering books out there I'd recommend....yes, "Delight in the Details" by Lisa Pace is fabulous. You will learn sooooooo much from her wonderful book about many different things to use in collage and paper arts. She is the Queen of Glitter.

And did you know, you can actually get dark pink nail polish out of your Berber carpet if you immediately soak it with Blending Solution? Yes, it's true. No one need know HOW the polish got onto my carpet.....and the kids are in Disneyworld so I can't blame them!!!!

So get on line, or go to your local bead shop and order some terrific stuff from Vintaj and don't forget to get your fabulous new Texture Plates. Do your part to get the economy back up and running!!!!!

Tissue Tape from Tim!

Now this stuff is really fun!!!!!!!!! Tissue TAPE!!!!! Who'd a thought?

You can't even imagine how cool it is until you actually see it.

I just was playing around while we were watching the Blackhawks get their butts kicked.....whine.

This is a little guy from the Lost and Found paper pad. He's taped to the blue paper from the Shabby Chic pad. I used one of the Market Place tapes.

Added a couple of tickets, stapled some Film Strip at the top, added some Ruler Ribbon, and the Bird charm. You can see the Tissue Tape at the top under the Film Strip and on both sides. Yes, I stamped on it on the left.

I added a couple of stamps to fill in the background from the Urban Chic set.

Done!

That kid is so cute, isn't he?????

Speaking of cute Kids!!!

The little darlings came over today and made "Awt Pwojects!" They're going to Disneyworld so we made and frame for a picture they will bring back to remember the trip.

Under the Sea was our theme.....love the colors. And they're really getting good at Metal Embossing! LOVE the Words from Ten Second's Studio!!!!!

Paint was everywhere, hence the aprons to keep me out of trouble with MOM.

Layers and Layers

Everybody who knows me knows that I love to layer stuff...on chipboard, on metal, on paper...I love layers.

The Queen of Layers wrote a great book that got me started...Layers by Shari Carroll. If you don't have it, you should really check it out!

Anyhow, Tim's new die cuts from Alterations just make a whole new dimension available with layers using die cut pieces.

This is just a peek at something I worked up with paper, canvas, paint, inks, stamps, Idea-ology and paper. Fun, fun, fun!!!!!

Busy time, working on assignments and trying to keep up with life in general.
