Doc was a good dog...

Sadly, my daughter's family had to say good-bye to and old friend a few days ago. Doc the Beagle. He was 14 years old and had many adventures in his resume.

He could open the refrigerator door with a bit of persistence and clean out several shelves in one afternoon. Of course it was easy to follow him around the house after one such event, if you get my drift! Whew!

~

He could eat a whole roll of deer sausage off the counter, or a turkey on the table. Talent and the ability to plan!!!

~

He loved to chase birds...hence we have the little Tim bird looking at the box with his name on it. The kids wanted something to put his collar and dog tags in as a memento, so I used this wooden box that I painted a copper metallic and used the Slate metal.

~

So, here's to you Doc. Chase the birds and enjoy your naps in the sunshine......

New Tim Idea-ology!!!!!

Sometimes I'm so easily amused. Here are some of the new t!m Holtz pieces from Idea-ology.....REALLY COOL!

LOVE the Ornate Plates. So many things come to mind. And his new Foliage pieces just seem to come together all by themselves.

The slider tin cover with the Periwinkle Blue metal was calling for just a bit more of something. And here it is!!!!

That cute little kid in the trench coat......it's me. Yeah, no legs, but a cool beret.

Tim Holtz Altered Bird

I guess this is as good as my Tim bird is gonna get. So here he is. You can get these birds at Paper Imagery Designs...very reasonably priced, too! FUN!

The house is using acrylic paint and Ten Seconds Studio metal on the roof and sides. A few white Sharpie dots add a bit of interest.

The bird has wings and head gear from Vintaj. He looks a bit evil in his coloring, but I kind of like him. The TSS metal in bard red and rock star black has a bit of stability added with......you guessed it....GrungePaper!

The hardest thing to come up with was his feathery topknot. Very thin red wire. Wrapped and cut for the added height he needed.

Get one and make it your own!

UPDATE: A couple of you asked how I did the roof. It is the same Barn Red metal as on the tail feathers. It has been run through the Cuttlebug with a TSS mold. The differentiation in color is because of the sunlight angle. Hard to take good pictures of the metal for this reason....at least for me!

Coffee Break Shrine

I got my new stash of Graphic 45 papers out and applied glue, chipboard, and just a dash of Distress Ink....oh, can't forget Tim's Hitches for the drawer pulls.

The bottom has 2 cute little drawers and a shelf for treasures.

The Coffee Break shrine is from Ginny's Small Studio Productions. WHAT A BLAST!!! These little gems are so darn cute. I added some height with a couple of wooden blocks.

After giving 30 years to the "Phone Company", I wanted to make something to put a few charms and tiny phone in.

I LOVE the roof with the eyes...the entire word is Communique, but the eyes HAD do go on the top...regardless if the whole word fit.

Alcohol Inks and Acrylics

Margaret at Scrapbook Friend'z has asked me to come back and teach a class using the Alcohol Inks on Acrylics on Mar. 28th. The flower is a cool technique on a great shape!

We'll use Grungeboard and ribbons and dew drops....you can change the whole look of your piece with Distress Inks and the colors of you Alcohol Inks. You can stamp Grad, Baby, Kids, etc. on your frame to remember a special event. MAKE IT YOUR OWN!

Pick up your frame and paint before class so we have plenty of time to play!

Dress Form Collage

Remember the necklace from the last post? Well, I thought I needed a place to showcase the piece.

I've had this dress form since our trip to Carolina Moon during CHA-S 2007. (Bless Cecile's little heart for taking us there. Boy, can that girl drive!! )Sometimes I need time to think about how to use something...no kidding.

And yes, the butterflies are really that vibrant. They were from a piece of Collage papers in Somerset magazine. I don't know why you can't click on to enlarge the back...over my head.

Keys are t!m's, Idea-ology, there are pieces from Vintaj, Maya Road, Grungeboard, Grungepaper, Distress Stickles, and various vintage pieces I've collected. The white knob on top was aged by using alcohol inks. It was too bright for me....so....ink it!

And the papers are 7Gypsies tissue paper I've hoarded for years over several layers of paints that were wiped off and added again until I got a really old look.
I know that look when I see it....I see it every day in the mirror!!!!!

Vintaj Collage Necklace

It seems to be hard for me to get good pictures of brass and crystals at the same time. I'm sure someone else could get a better shot, but here are a few pieces of
Vintaj, a transparency, and collage image for an interesting necklace.

It will be going onto something that I'll bring to St. Louis. It should be fun!

15 Minute Money Card

How impressed are 15 year old boys with a card? I mean...Really. But I'll bet Alex likes this one with a check inside! Ha! And the 2x3 slider tin can keep small treasures after the money is gone.

The really cool thing about this.....it took 15 minutes to make...I KID YOU NOT!

Scrap St. Louis Sneak Peek!

Boy, do we use a TON of products in this class for Scrap St. Louis!!! Here's a peak of just one side of the finished project. Metal embossing techniques, layering up and of course a bit of Distress Inking will be included in this class.

Get lots of sleep and be ready to work when you come to class...so many things, so little time....get ready....it's getting closer and closer!
