Michelle's Owl

Michelle, my oldest, is here on sabbatical for a couple of days. Usually when she is here, it's her kids that get to do the "art projects." Today she's here by herself, so SHE got to make one of Julie van Oosten's chipboard owls from Collections! They are a new item and are not on her site yet. Here she is!!!! Isn't she cute, and she did a great job for her first time with Distress Inks....fun, fun, fun.
So proud of her...

Maya Road Thank You

Here's something I am sending along with the little book as a thank you to the Maya Road team. When I get to doodling at 11 o'clock at night, there's no stopping me. Just a few little dots and squiggles here and there. And yes, I do LOVE that ribbon. It is sooo easy to work with...doesn't fray and stays where you put it! And it is a scrap of paper from the wine box. I am rather fond of stripes on an angle like that.

Sunny and mild today in the midwest. A good day for a drive to eat lunch!
Just a side to...Lisa V, I didn't know you were the talented artist in the shop until yesterday! Love your book! I had to ask Wendy who Lisa V was, and tried to email to no avail. So, thanks for all your kind comments!

Little Book on it's way!

Time to say good-bye to my little book. Off to CHA-W without me.....sob...
But here is another page in the little book. A little bit of Grungeboard, a little bit of Crackle Paint, a stamp from Paper Artsy, and some white pen doodles. Other stamps are from Stamping Sensations and the one at the bottom is from Collections.
Ribbon and book by Maya Road. Thanks to everyone there for choosing my project. I couldn't be happier about sending it on it's way !!! (Aileen suggested adding a mini cam to it...very creative woman!)
This page is entitled HOPE....

Maya Road Rage Book !!! WHOO!! WHOO!!

Well, Lisa Pace made my day today!!!! I sat down on the steps to talk to her and couldn't believe it. When she told me her name and asked how I was, I said "I think I'm great if you're calling!!!" What a terrifically nice gal!! They want to take my book to CHA. I guess if I can't go, at least my little book can. HA! Makes a cold winter day in the midwest a whole lot warmer for me!

Thanks Maya Road, and Wendy for giving me the nudge!

Go create....be happy!
Linda

****Thanks so much for all the wonderful comments! You guys are the BEST ....Lori, the sun is shining here, too, only the wind chill is 10 below!!! And Dawn, yes...I could melt the snow with the happy smile on my face today!

Altered Arts Magazine

Well now that the magazine is out I can show you the ATP's that were published this time in Altered Arts. My friend Lori Roberts has an article about Altered Trading Pins in the recent edition with pins from fellow artists. The fob is from Collections and comes in 2 layers of chipboard. I added a layer of transparency, stamps and words. Oh, and a few beads, too. The other is a piece of chipboard with several metal embellishments layered up. All you have to do is add a pinback and you're out the door!!!
AND.....
One more day until the Row Houses class in Bloomington. I'm really excited. They are soooooo much fun!

Another Transparency

Here's another transparency of one of my favorite vintage photos in a Maya Road book. She was one of the first ones I bought several years ago. I used Maya Road ribbons, and leaves are from Crazy for Chipboard. OK, the leaves WERE distressed with Tim's ink before they were stamped. But no more distress inks in the page. Hard to believe for me! I love the mini-Marks rubons on the upper page. Very nice to work with.

Maya Road Rage Book

This is the top page of my Maya Road Rage book. Can't see all the rest of the pages, but the top is probably the best.
The bird and lighter colored ribbons are Maya Road. I used Crackle Paint on the bird, Fired Brick and Aged Mahogany. The word stamp is Hampton Art and the flourish is Hero Arts. I LOVE the paper by MME-Bohemia. The little chipboard piece on the layer underneath is from Everlasting Keepsakes. And NO distress inks here, can you believe it?!?!?!?

Two Posts in One Day

I've been so taken by the beautiful images by Shirley McCutcheon for quite some time. But the layouts in the new Somerset Studio are beyond stunning. She uses such haunting images in layers that define nature and children's faces in all of her works of art. After studying them for several days, I finally got the nerve to make some transparencies of my own and put together a piece .

Couldn't have done it without the great tutorial from Shirley. I hope you like it.

Thanks for everything, Shirley, you're the Best!!!

Mini Misters Holder

DH made me a holder for my Mini Misters ! Very simple, according to him and pretty crude, but it works for me. He used the drill press for the holes and I had to add some Crackle Paint and embossed metal to the sides. Getting ready for classes, and tomorrow is Wendy's classes in Bloomington. Will be great fun! Hope to see some of you there....you should not miss these!!!

Have a great day...and create!

Julie van Oosten Owl in 2008!

This little owl arrived from Julie van Oosten in Australia the other day. He or she is from the Collections chipboard and comes in a sheet with punch out pieces to paint or alter however you like. Here I used metal tape and embossed 3 pieces, and Crackle Paint on some of the other sections, Spiced Marmalade, Black Soot and Walnut Stain from Tim Holtz's line. REALLY cool stuff! Add some brads, a few stamps by Great Impressions and Imagine That, some Distress Ink, gel pens, and earrings...I don't know why....she looked like an owl with attitude and needed a little bling...and she's ready to go. An objet d'art!
